When an order costs more to pick, pack and ship than it earns, a minimum makes sense — as long as customers understand it. Minimum Order sets the limit and tells shoppers, right in the cart, exactly how much is missing.

Three kinds of limit

Minimum order amount (after or before discounts), minimum total number of items, minimum number of different products — use one or combine them. The amount is set in your primary currency and converted for storefronts in other currencies.

Clear, live, unskippable

A notice appears above the cart items and next to the order button — “The minimum order amount is $50. Add $12.40 more to place your order.” — and updates as soon as the cart changes. The order is also refused on the server, so the limit holds in the single-page checkout and in the classic step-by-step checkout alike.

Exceptions

Tick customer categories that have no limit, for example wholesale buyers with their own terms. Write your own messages or keep the built-in ones in the storefront's language. No theme editing needed.
